FIC REPORT (ADAMAWA STATE) – Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has pledged his administrations continued support for the Northern Governor Wives Forum (NGWF) to enhance development at the grassroots.
Governor Fintiri made the pledge when he received members of the forum who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Yola.
He commended the Governor’s wives for the various projects and initiatives they have been implementing in their respective States, nothing that their interventions have helped to reach communities and vulnerable groups that government may not always be able to reach directly.
Fintiri said the task of building a Nigeria that could serve as a model for other countries required collective commitment and support from stakeholders. He described the contributions of Governor wives as significant to development, stressing that their offices and roles could not be undermine.
While wishing the forum a successful deliberation, the governor urged its members to give greater attention to critical issues affecting Women and children in Northern Nigeria, particularly poverty and social vulnerability.
He said concerned effort were needs to enhance power, women and children and equip them to become productive members of society.
Earlier, the chairperson of the Northern Governor Wives Forum and Wife of the Gombe State Government Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya said the delegation were in Yola for the Forums Second Tri-annual Meeting. She explained thatthe courtesy visit was to expands the forum solidarity with and support for Governor Fintiri’s administration.
Asma’u said that, as mothers and partners in development, members of the forum had implemented various interventions across the Northern States, including the provision of boreholes, support and distribution of relief materials to vulnerable communities.
She commended Governor Fintiri for what she described as his administration’s efforts toward the overall development of Adamawa State, adding that the primary role of Governor’s wives was to support their husband in advancing the welfare of the people.
The chairperson also commended Adamawa First Lady, Hajiya Lami Umaru Fintiri, for her initiatives, particularly the renovation of the labour and neonatal complex at the Specialist Hospital, Yola.
She said the forum, in commemoration of the International Day of charity, brought a token of support for Mothers in the State. Asma’u further sought the State government partnership in areas including Women empowerment, Youth Development, Agriculture and Healthcare.
