FIC REPORT (BENUE STATE) – The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction (FMHAPR) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have commended Benue State Emergency Management Agency (Benue-SEMA) for its outstanding performance during the recent full-scale flood disaster response simulation exercise conducted in the state.
The commendation was made on Thursday, September 17, 2026, by the Special Adviser to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Office of the Vice President, Mrs. Inna Binta Audu, during the debriefing session at the Fr. Alia Conference Hall, Makurdi, following the simulation exercise held at Riverside, Wadata.
Mrs. Audu praised Benue-SEMA for its high level of preparedness, effective coordination and professionalism demonstrated throughout the exercise.
The Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, represented by the Director of Search and Rescue, Air Commodore B A Usman, also commended Benue-SEMA’s commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and response.


Observers at the exercise equally highlighted the Agency’s clear communication, coordinated response and effective collaboration with communities and other stakeholders.
