FIC Report (Delta State) – The Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has directed the State Ministry of Works (Urban and Highways), to address the failed portions of Federal Roads in the State.

The Governor who gave the directive during his weekly State Executive Council Meeting with the Commissioners noted that the deplorable state of failed portions of Federal Roads in the State ranging from the Warri – Sapele – Benin High Way, the Sapele – Abraka – Agbor Road as well as the Asaba-Benin High Way had been a source of concern to him and his administration.

Governor Oborevwori further noted that the failed portions of Federal Roads had made it easy for armed robbers and kidnappers to take advantage of such bad spots to attack and kidnap innocent travelers and other road users.

The Governor further disclosed that his administration has decided to employ the services of one of the best constructing companies in Nigeria, Julius Berger Plc, to carryout the construction of roads in Delta State noting that within his 100 days in office, his administration had awarded contract for the construction of four flyovers in Warri and Effurun to reduce the high traffic experienced in that axis of the State.

He said that his M.O.R.E. Agenda would transform Delta State as one of the best in terms of physical and human infrastructures.

Meanwhile, a cross section of Deltans interviewed by FIC Asaba correspondent Celestine Afokobah, commended the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori led administration as they noted that the present administration has started in a commendable way by inviting a construction giant Julius Berger Plc to handle the construction of roads and flyovers in the State.

The motorists and commuters interviewed all expressed happiness following the Governor’s directive for an immediate repair of the failed portions of Federal Roads in the State pending when Federal Government does the needful in their views.
