FIC REPORT (KADUNA STATE) – The Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, CON, has called on Nigerians to renew their commitment to peace, unity, accountability and national development as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

Governor Uba Sani made the call in his 2026 Independence Day Anniversary Address, titled “Nigeria at 66: The Nation We Owe Our Children,” in which he paid tribute to the nation’s founding fathers and urged citizens and leaders to uphold the values and responsibilities associated with nationhood.

Sani expressed gratitude to Almighty God for sustaining Nigeria and honoured the courage and sacrifices of the country’s founding fathers, noting that every generation has a responsibility to make the nation’s independence meaningful in the lives of its citizens.
According to him, Nigeria remains a country of enormous potential, with rich cultural diversity, human ingenuity and resilience that continue to sustain its promise despite the challenges confronting the nation.

He commended the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, particularly the commitment of the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda to transforming Nigeria’s potential into prosperity and expanding opportunities for citizens.

Uba stressed that peace and stability remain fundamental to national development, noting that citizens must be able to farm, trade, work and send their children to school without fear.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Kaduna State Government, in collaboration with the Federal Government, to strengthening security, improving public safety and creating an enabling environment where citizens can pursue their legitimate aspirations with confidence.

Speaking on unity and peaceful coexistence, Governor Sani urged the people of Kaduna State and Nigerians generally to see diversity as a strength rather than a source of division.

Sani called on citizens to reject prejudice and efforts to exploit differences for divisive purposes, stressing that mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and collective determination are essential to building a stronger Kaduna State and a more prosperous Nigeria.

He also emphasised the importance of patriotism, civic responsibility and accountability, urging citizens to discharge their responsibilities while reminding leaders that public office represents a sacred trust.

Uba said leadership must demonstrate integrity, share the sacrifices required of citizens and ensure that the benefits of governance translate into improved living conditions for the people.

He also Reflecting on Nigeria’s democratic journey, Governor Sani noted that the country has sustained uninterrupted democratic rule for 27 years and urged stakeholders to continue working towards deepening the substance of democracy.

Governor stressed that democracy must ultimately be measured by its ability to protect human dignity and deliver security, opportunities and improved wellbeing to citizens.

He further reminded public officials that they would ultimately account for their stewardship before Almighty God, urging them to allow wisdom, integrity and compassion to guide their decisions and priorities.

Sani said public authority imposes an obligation on leaders to serve faithfully, protect public resources and leave communities better than they found them.

He expressed optimism that a better Nigeria is achievable through collective effort, responsible leadership and commitment to the national interest.
He called on Nigerians to continue praying for the peace of the country, working for its prosperity and strengthening the bonds that unite its people.

The Governor wished the people of Kaduna State and all Nigerians a happy 66th Independence Anniversary, praying that Almighty God would continue to protect Nigeria, bless its people and strengthen the nation’s resolve to build a country worthy of the sacrifices of its heroes and the trust of future generations.
