The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Hajia Aisha Abubakar has assured the private sector of Government’s commitment to the creation of enabling environment for business to thrive. The Minister gave this assurance when she received the executive members of the Association of Skilled and Vocational Artisans of Nigeria (ASVAN), who paid her a courtesy visit.
Hajia Abubakar commended the visitors for their efforts at training and creating employment particularly for the women and youths saying “I am happy that you have keyed into the Federal Government’s policy of job creation and employment generation, I commend you for what you are doing as Government cannot do it alone.” The Minister therefore, pledged the readiness of the Ministry to collaborate with them to bring their plans to reality.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Comrade Everest Obijuru informed the Minister that the Association is “an umbrella body of all artisans and skilled workers in the Country with structures in all the 36 States and the FCT.”
He disclosed that “the association was created for poverty eradication through investment and wealth creation for its members. Comrade Obijuru hinted that ASVAN was planning a three day national summit, to train and enlighten about ten thousand of its members drawn from across the country. He added that the summit would also provide members the opportunity to showcase their talents.
Mr. Obijuru therefore, sought the assistance of the Ministry and invited the Minister to attend the summit as the special guest of honour.
