FIC Report (Kano State) – Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has extended the service period of the Head of Civil Service, select Permanent Secretaries, and Senior Civil Servants by an additional two years, effective 31st December 2024. The decision was formalized through an Executive Order signed by the Governor, invoking the Doctrine of Necessity to address potential gaps in service delivery.

According to Aliyu Yusuf, Director of Public Enlightenment, Office of the Head of Civil Service, Kano State, the extension aligns with the provisions of Section 5 (2) and Section 208 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). Beneficiaries of this decision include Alhaji Abdullahi Musa as the Head of Civil Service, alongside Umar Muhammad Jalo, Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, Mu’azatu Isa Dutse, Abdulmuminu Musa, and Tijjani Muhammad Sharif, who will continue serving as Permanent Secretaries. Bashir Idris Diso, the Clerk to the State House of Assembly, is also among the key officials retained under this directive.

The affected officials were initially due for retirement by the end of 2024, per the Civil Service Rules and Kano State Pension Trustees Fund Law. However, the order emphasized that these individuals have consistently demonstrated exceptional competence, excellence, and responsibility in their roles. Their retention is deemed critical to maintaining efficient and effective service delivery in the state.

The Governor also extended similar two-year service periods to several senior civil servants and healthcare professionals, including Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir, Comrade Marwan Mustapha, and other notable figures from the Critical Health Sector, such as Amina Idris, a Psychiatric Nurse, and Hussaini Nuhu, a Pediatric Nurse.

All beneficiaries are directed to continue discharging their duties in compliance with the Civil Service Rules, ensuring seamless operations across their respective departments.
