Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Hon. Festus Keyamo, SAN,CON, FCIArb. UK was at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, yesterday being the 20th of January 2025, to officiate the ground-breaking ceremony of XE Jet Aircraft Hangar and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility.
Speaking at the event, the Minister hailed the project as a transformative milestone for Nigeria’s aviation sector, emphasizing the importance of indigenous initiatives and local financial support in driving sustainable development. “This project reflects our commitment to creating an enabling environment for world-class MRO facilities that will benefit not only Nigeria but the entire West African region,” he said.
The Managing Director of XE Jet, Emmanuel Iza, also expressed optimism about the facility’s potential to enhance Nigeria’s aviation capacity and economic standing.
Key aviation stakeholders, including the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, and the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo, were present to witness this significant achievement.
The project is part of the government’s broader vision to position Nigeria as a regional aviation hub, driving economic growth and ensuring global competitiveness.
