The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation will host the Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service of the Republic of The Gambia, Mr. Alieu Njie, and a high-level delegation on a strategic study visit to Nigeria from 20–24 June 2026.

The visit, under the leadership of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, is aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Nigerian and Gambian Civil Services through peer learning, exchange of reform experiences, and practical conversations on building more efficient, professional, and citizen-centred public institutions.

The engagement will provide an opportunity for both countries to share lessons on public service reform implementation, service delivery improvement, institutional capacity development, performance management, digital governance, and the use of technology to support more effective government operations.

As part of the study visit, the delegation will engage with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, selected Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and relevant public service institutions, including the Public Service Institute of Nigeria, the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, the Federal Training Centre, Lagos, and Galaxy Backbone Limited.

The study visit reflects the shared commitment of Nigeria and The Gambia to strengthening public administration through cooperation, knowledge exchange, and practical learning. It also reinforces the importance of African countries drawing from one another’s reform experiences to improve governance and deliver better services to citizens.
