The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disability, Chief Ayuba Gufwan has pledged his desires to consolidate on the accomplishments of the past leadership of the Commission.
The ES made this declaration when he received the immediate past Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr. James David Lalu for the official handing over ceremony, today 20th August, 2024 in Abuja.
In his address, Gufwan commended the past Executive Secretary for his resilience and political will in establishing a standard which has put the Commission and the vast majority of Persons with Disabilities on the map.
“I thank the management and staff of the Commission for a job well done in seeing that the aspirations of the various clusters of Persons with Disabilities both the living and the dead to have a working Commission to call their own has come to fruition,” he said.
The ES further stated that he is a team player and would, therefore, like to improve on the good job of the past leadership of the Commission by creating an enabling environment for more strategic innovations.
“We are here to represent millions of Nigerians with disabilities and we must do everything within the extant laws to make life easier for the community,” he said.
However, the erstwhile Executive Secretary, Dr. James David Lalu, who was visibly elated by the reception, expressed his gratitude to the Executive Secretary, Chief Gufwan for his warmth and the entire staff of the Commission for their support during his 4 years in office.
“I encourage you all to extend such support and more to the new Executive Secretary whom I personally know as a seasoned administrator and a round peg in a round hole. I enjoin everyone in this room, however, to work closely as a team and to give maximum support to our new Executive Secretary,” he implored.
The highlight of the event was the handing over of the official documents to the Executive Secretary Chief Ayuba Gufwan by Dr. James David Lalu.
