The Director-General of the National Center for Women Development, Mary Ekpere – Eta has appealed to the House Committee on Women Affairs for an increased budgetary allocation to the Center.
The NCWD Boss made the appeal today in her Conference room when she received in audience, the House Committee on Women Affairs led by the Chairperson, Hon. (Otunba) Adewunmi O.Onanuga and a team of other members who are over sighting the Center.
The Chairperson in her short opening speech disclosed that oversight function is an integral part of the legislative arm which ensures checks and balances amongst the three tiers of government. Hon. Otunba further called for more collaboration between the Committee and the Center to ensure a proper and more detailed budget that will accommodate more trainings and empowerment for women at the rural areas and IDP camps.
DG Ekpere-Eta who earlier briefed the Honorable members gave adequate response to their questions and observations while calling for more funding to enable the Center consolidate more on its mandate being a Center of excellence for Gender Equity and sustainable Women Development.
The august visitors after the interactive session later embarked on tour of the facilities of the Center guided by the Director- General before their departure.
