ICPC Trains Special Duties Staff On Supervision And Verification Of Zonal Intervention / Constituency Projects

The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has concluded a training session for professional officers in Programmes and Projects Department on the tools needed for supervision and verification of Zonal Intervention Projects (ZIPs), and Constituency Projects (CPs) with a view to promoting good governance, accountability and transparency in government business.

The Permanent Secretary, Dr Maryam Ismail Keshinro, who made this know on Thursday, September 26, 2024 in Abuja, further said the training aims at delivering socio-economic development with particular focus on grassroots communities.

The Permanent Secretary who was represented by Director Administration, Dr. Garba Usman, commended the collaboration effort between the Ministry and ICPC, adding that proper supervision and verification of these projects will curb corruption, improve service delivery and enhance trust in government interventions.

Also speaking, representative of ICPC, Jimoh Sulaiman, facilitated the sessions on accountability frameworks, anti-corruption strategies, and the role of the public in monitoring the execution of government-funded project.

He further reiterate that ICPC is committed to providing the needed support that will enable the Ministry to successfully carry out its oversight functions of ensuring that these intervention projects reach their intended recipients.

The training is part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry to strengthen the capacity of its personnel and ensure that intervention projects contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of Nigeria, particularly at the grassroot.

The event concluded with a call for more collaboration between government agencies, civil societies, and community stakeholders to improve transparency, accountability, and good governance in project implementation
