FIC Report (Sokoto State) – President Bola Ahamed Tinubu, has been commended for approving the recruitment of 30,000 police officers annually for the next few years. This is inline with the leadership of the president and the Nigeria police force’s commitment in addressing the longstanding manpower deficit.
The Inspector General of Police (IG), Kayode Adeolu Ebgbetokun, represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of zone 10, Goygon .A.Grimah, made the commendation at the passing out parade of the 2022/2023 batch B from Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states at the police training school, Farfaru, Sokoto, on Tuesday, 7th Nov, 2025.
According to Ebgbetokun, this increased recruitment will relieve the stress on current officers, who often work extended hours with inadequate rest.
In his remarks, the Sokoto state Governor, Ahamed Aliyu, represented by the Sokoto state Deputy Governor, Idris Muhammed Gobir,charged the 483 newly graduated constables to uphold the ethics and values of the Nigeria police force. He stressed the need for the new officers to be guided by integrity, fairness and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.He also urged them to shun corruption, indiscipline and misconduct and to remain impartial, just and humane in their interactions with the public.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Sokoto state, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, the Sokoto state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, the Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Bello Muhammed Sani, and the Zamfara state Assistant Commissioner of Police.
