FIC REPORT (EBONYI STATE) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ebonyi State, has reaffirmed its partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as part of efforts to ensure a credible and transparent conduct of the 2027 general elections.
The Commission said it would continue to strengthen the collaboration through regular sensitisation of NYSC members in the state on their civic responsibilities and expected roles in the electoral process.
The latest sensitisation programme, held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, focused on equipping corps members with a clear understanding of their responsibilities as election personnel and the importance of their roles in ensuring credible elections.
Representing the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ebonyi State, Mrs Pauline Ugochi Onyeka, were Mr Idongesit Sunday Nduohosewo of the INEC VoterEducation and Publicity Department and Mrs Kelechi Ukie, INEC Training Officer.
The officials emphasised the need for corps members to uphold the Commission’s core principles of integrity, credibility, teamwork, transparency, impartiality and professionalism in the discharge of their electoral duties.
The Commission said the sensitisation was aimed at ensuring that corps members are adequately informed, prepared and committed to contributing responsibly to the successful conduct of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, INEC Ebonyi has commenced the display of the Preliminary Register of Voters (PRV) for claims and objections, alongside the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible registered voters in the state.
The INEC State Office in Abakaliki witnessed increased activity on Thursday as Electoral Officers (EOs) from the 13 Area Offices collected the Preliminary Register of Voters and newly printed PVCs for onward distribution to the various Registration Areas.
The PVCs are for voters captured during the Phase One registration exercise conducted between August 25 and December 10, 2025.
According to officials of the Commission, the Preliminary Register of Voters will be displayed at Registration Area (Ward) Collection Centres from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., beginning Friday, October 9, 2026.
Registered voters are expected to use the opportunity to verify their details, including their names and polling units, and raise claims or objections where necessary.
The display exercise will run from October 92026, while PVC collection will continue at the various Local Government Area offices after the display period.
INEC officials were also seen carefully checking, documenting and sorting the PVCs received from the state headquarters before taking them to their respective Area Offices for distribution.
The Commission urged registered voters to take advantage of the display exercise to verify their information and make necessary corrections within the stipulated period.
INEC said the simultaneous sensitisation of NYSC members and the commencement of the voters’ register display underscored its commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration and ensuring that all stakeholders are adequately prepared for the 2027 general elections.
