The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Lagos State by two weeks, shifting the closing date from July 10 to July 26, 2026, to enable more eligible residents register ahead of future elections.
The Commission, in a statement yesterday by its Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Lagos State, Taiwo Gbadegesin, also announced the introduction of a self-service online registration platform for eligible first-time voters, said that the online registration option would become operational from Wednesday, July 8, 2026, allowing prospective registrants to complete the registration process using their personal devices through the Commission’s dedicated CVR portal.
Resident Electoral Commissioner for Lagos State, Prof. Ayobami Salami, urged eligible residents to take advantage of both the extension of the registration exercise and the newly introduced online registration platform.
He said the measures form part of its commitment to expanding voter access while ensuring the credibility of the voter registration process ahead of future elections.
MEANWHILE, the Founder of Anap Foundation, Atedo Peterside, has urged INEC to allow registered voters without Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to cast their ballots.
