FIC Report (Ebonyi State) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ebonyi State Office, has appealed to eligible citizens in Ebonyi State to take full advantage of the ongoing final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning that failure to do so may lead to disenfranchisement.
The Commission stated that Phase III of the CVR commenced on May 11, 2026, and will end on July 10, 2026. It added that registration is conducted between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Mondays to Fridays, excluding public holidays.
Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki on the importance of the exercise, the Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, INEC Ebonyi State, Mr. Oko Victor Ndubuisi, said the registration is strictly for Nigerian citizens who have attained the age of 18 and above.
He explained that the exercise also provides opportunities for voters to transfer their registration to polling units closer to their residence, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and update or correct personal details.
According to him, eligible citizens can begin the process online via INEC CVR Portal and subsequently complete their registration at any designated INEC registration centre.
Some of the registrants who spoke with journalists commended the Commission for ensuring a smooth and accessible registration process, while also encouraging others to take advantage of the final phase ahead of the 2027 elections.
He urged INEC to ensure a free, fair, and credible election, adding that the Commission must work to restore public confidence and ensure that every vote counts in the upcoming elections.
