………The Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad Reaffirms Commitment to Intelligence-Led Policing and Public Safety.
FIC Report (Kaduna State) – The Kaduna State Police Command has recorded significant operational successes in its ongoing efforts to combat armed banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, arms trafficking, vehicle theft, drug-related offences and other forms of criminality across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, psc, mni, disclosed this during a press briefing at the Kaduna State Police Command.
According to the Commissioner, the Command’s achievements were recorded through intelligence-led policing, strategic operations, sustained patrols, community engagement and collaboration with sister security agencies and members of the public.
POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED GUN RUNNER, RECOVER AK-49 RIFLES AND AMMUNITION
A major breakthrough was recorded on 25 August 2026 at about 2100hrs at Yan’Karfe Motor Park, Sabon Gari, Zaria, following a distress call concerning a suspicious individual.
Police operatives from Sabon Gari Zaria Division swiftly responded and arrested a 39-year-old suspect identified as Kenneth, a native of Delta State, who was found struggling with a sack containing potatoes.
A thorough search of the sack led to the recovery of:
Two (2) AK-49 rifles;
228 rounds of RPG ammunition;
275 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 ammunition;
Five (5) AK-47 magazines;
and Some quantities of suspected hard drugs.
The Commissioner said the suspect is currently assisting the Police with investigation.
CP Rabiu Muhammad commended the Divisional Police Officer and his team for their prompt response and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons, movements and activities to the Police.
THREE SUSPECTED BANDITS ARRESTED ALONG ABUJA-KADUNA EXPRESSWAY
On 24 August 2026 at about 1500hrs, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Kaduna, acting on credible intelligence, arrested three suspected members of an armed bandit gang at Audu Jangwam along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
The suspects were identified as:
Ibrahim Muhammad, alias “Alti”, 25, from Adamawa State;
Usman Tukur, alias “Mallam”, 27, from Zamfara State;
and
Hassan Alhaji Salisu, alias “Tagwaye”, 23, from Doka Village, Gusau LGA, Zamfara State.
The suspects allegedly confessed during interrogation to being members of an armed bandit gang operating around Millennium City, Kaduna, and other areas of the state.
The Command stated that investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
SUSPECT ARRESTED WITH FIREARM AND MILITARY ACCOUTREMENTS
On 22 July 2026 at about 1500hrs, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, SCID, Kaduna, acting on credible intelligence concerning the suspicious activities of Gideon Martins, of Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, arrested the suspect during surveillance patrols.
A search led to the recovery of:
One (1) double-barrel locally made gun;
One (1) handcuff;
One (1) live 9mm ammunition;
Two (2) live cartridges;
One (1) POS machine;
One (1) drilling machine;
and
Other security uniforms and related exhibits.
The suspect remains in custody while investigation continues.
134 ROUNDS OF AK-47 AMMUNITION RECOVERED
The Command also disclosed the recovery of 134 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition on 25 August 2026 during stop-and-search operations along Kachia Road, Kaduna.
Police operatives intercepted a motorcyclist who was reportedly moving suspiciously while carrying a sack.
Upon searching the sack, the operatives discovered the ammunition concealed inside.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed that he was sent by a notorious armed bandit known as “Yellow Mai-Million” to collect and convey the ammunition to him.
The Command said investigation is ongoing and efforts are being intensified to apprehend other persons connected to the transaction.
ELEVEN SACKS OF SUSPECTED CANNABIS RECOVERED
On 15 August 2026, Police operatives conducting routine patrol along the Zaria-Kano Expressway observed unidentified persons attempting to load items into an unregistered Volkswagen Golf station wagon.
On sighting the Police, the driver reportedly fled, abandoning the vehicle and the items.
A search resulted in the recovery of 11 sacks containing dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
The Command said the search for the fleeing suspects has been intensified.
THREE SUSPECTS ARRESTED OVER ARMED ROBBERY AND SEXUAL ASSAULTS AROUND RAFIN TUKURWA
The Kaduna State Police Command, in collaboration with Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Security and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), has arrested three suspects in connection with alleged armed robbery and sexual assault incidents around Rafin Tukurwa and neighbouring communities in Zaria.
The suspects were arrested on 15 August 2026 following distress calls and complaints from residents.
They are:
Jamilu Yau, alias “Jagwa”, 20, of Tudun Natsira;
Abdullahi Hamisu, alias “Maikudi Santsi”, 25, of Tudun Natsira;
and
Sani Abubakar, alias “Gaye”, 20, of Rafin Tukurwa.
According to the Police, Jamilu Yau and Sani Abubakar allegedly confessed during interrogation to their involvement in the offences.
The suspects reportedly mentioned attacks in Gidan Kira, Magata and Gidan Maranta villages, where victims were allegedly robbed at knifepoint and sexually assaulted.
The Command further stated that several victims and village heads have come forward with complaints concerning similar alleged offences.
The Police appealed to anyone with useful information concerning the activities of the suspects to come forward and assist investigators.
On 19 August 2026 at about 1400hrs, operatives of Kajuru Division acted on information concerning an attempted phone theft at Idon-Gida, Kajuru LGA.
Following a chase involving members of the community, a suspect identified as Barnabas Amale, 27, of Atee Village, Iburu, Kajuru LGA, was apprehended and handed over to the Police.
A pistol was allegedly recovered from him.
Further investigation led to the identification of another suspect, Victor Patrick, 37, of Iburu Village, who allegedly received the firearm from one Oyou Movel, currently at large, before passing it to Barnabas Amale.
The case remains under investigation.
STOLEN KADUNA WATER BOARD HILUX RECOVERED IN KANO
The Command has also recovered a white Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the Kaduna State Water Board, which was reported stolen from No. 38 Gobarau Road, Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna.
The vehicle, with registration number DKA 174 LY, was recovered on 18 August 2026 following diligent investigation and intelligence tracking by a team led by ASP Sa’ad Maitafsir.
The vehicle was intercepted in Kano State after a hot pursuit, while the suspected criminals abandoned it and escaped into the bush.
The recovered vehicle has been taken into Police custody, while efforts continue to arrest the fleeing suspects.
TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED OVER VANDALISATION OF INFECTIOUS DISEASE CENTRE
On 26 August 2026 at about 0430hrs, operatives of the Anti-Car Theft Section, State Criminal Investigation Department, Kaduna, acting on credible information, arrested two suspects in connection with an alleged armed robbery and vandalisation of critical infrastructure at the Infectious Disease Centre, Mando, Kaduna.
The operation was led by ASP Yusuf Musa.
The suspects were identified as:
Abdullahi Abubakar, of Makera, Kajuru LGA; and
Shehu Sani, of Makera, Kajuru LGA.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the suspects allegedly conspired with other members of their gang, currently at large, armed themselves with dangerous weapons, scaled the facility’s perimeter fence and tied up five security guards on duty before vandalising the transformer belonging to the Centre.
The Commissioner strongly condemned the attack, describing the vandalisation of critical public infrastructure as a serious threat to public health and safety.
He assured the public that the Police would continue to pursue all persons connected with the incident until they are brought to justice.
CP Rabiu Muhammad disclosed that the Task Force and Metropolitan Area Command have intensified routine patrols and raids on suspected criminal hideouts and black spots within the Kaduna metropolis.
The operations, he said, are aimed at disrupting criminal activities, denying criminals freedom of movement and preventing them from establishing operational bases within communities.
The Commissioner noted that the Command has recovered several dangerous weapons and other exhibits through these sustained operations.
The Commissioner of Police called on residents of Kaduna State to remain vigilant and continue providing credible and timely information to the Police.
He stressed that effective crime prevention requires strong cooperation between law enforcement agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and members of the public.
He also appealed to residents to protect government facilities located within their communities and promptly report attempts to vandalise or compromise critical infrastructure.
CP Rabiu Muhammad further urged the public to continue supporting the Police through information-sharing and community engagement.
The Commissioner expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), npm, for his leadership, guidance and support to the Command.
He also appreciated the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, CON, for his continuous support and cooperation with the Police Command in the discharge of its responsibilities.
The Commissioner equally commended the good people of Kaduna State for their continued cooperation, support and provision of credible information, which he said had contributed significantly to the operational successes recorded by the Command.
CP Rabiu Muhammad reaffirmed the Kaduna State Police Command’s determination to sustain intelligence gathering, community engagement and targeted operations against armed banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, arms trafficking, vehicle theft, drug-related offences, vandalism and other forms of criminality.
He assured the people of Kaduna State that the Command would not relent in its efforts to deny criminals the opportunity to operate freely within the state.
The Commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and partner with the Police in building a safer and more secure Kaduna State.
“The security of Kaduna State is a collective responsibility. We therefore urge every resident to remain vigilant, provide timely and credible information, and support lawful efforts to protect lives, property and critical public infrastructure.”
