Kano State Governor Welcomes 150 Foreign Scholarship Graduates, Grants Automatic Employment to Key Professionals

FIC Report (Kano State) – Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has celebrated the return of 150 beneficiaries of the state’s foreign postgraduate scholarship programme. The graduates, who completed their master’s degrees at renowned international universities, were warmly received at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on Saturday at 12:55 p.m. by the governor, his deputy, commissioners, and other top government officials.

According to Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director General of Media and Publicity at the Government House, Kano, the students represent a diverse array of universities. Among the graduates, 150 studied at Sharda University, India, while others hailed from institutions such as Mewar University (98), Symbiosis University (58), Kalinga University (30), SR University (29), Swarnim University (23), and the Islamic University in Uganda (33), among others. The scholarship scheme is part of the state’s ambitious 1,000+ Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship initiative, which primarily targeted first-class graduates.

At a reception held at the Kano Government House, Governor Yusuf commended the scholars for their hard work and exceptional performance. He highlighted the importance of the programme in his administration’s vision for human capital development, emphasizing its role in equipping Kano’s youth with advanced skills to drive progress in critical sectors.

In a groundbreaking announcement, the governor granted automatic employment to graduates specializing in engineering, medicine, pharmaceuticals, and other health-related fields. This initiative aims to address the state’s shortage of skilled professionals in healthcare and infrastructure development.

“This initiative is part of our mission to empower the youth and build a prosperous future for Kano State. We are proud of your achievements and are confident that you will contribute immensely to our development agenda,” Governor Yusuf stated.

The foreign postgraduate scholarship scheme remains a flagship programme of the Yusuf administration, providing international exposure and specialized training for Kano’s brightest minds. The governor’s recent visit to Indian universities further underscores his commitment to ensuring the success of the initiative.
