FIC Report (Kano State) – The Kano State Police Command held a security sensitization meeting on October 12, 2024, at the Sani Abacha Youth Center, Kano. The meeting aimed to emphasize the collective responsibility of security and foster community engagement among stakeholders.
The meeting drew frontline security stakeholders, including district heads, village heads, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), special constabulary, vigilante groups, and other community policing stakeholders. Key areas discussed included security roles, information sharing, reporting suspicious activities, and community engagement.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, was represented by ACP Bello Hamisu Wudil, Area Commander of Eastern Bypass Area Command. Ambassador Muktar Gashash, Chairman of Kano State Eminent Persons’ Forum, and Alhaji Iliyasu Mu’azu Sharada, District Head of Sharada, facilitated the sensitization meeting.
According to SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, ANIPR, MNISMA, Police Public Relations Officer, For: Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, “The Command remains committed to ensuring public safety and urges residents to continue cooperating with the police by providing valuable intelligence and support. The Commissioner of Police directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to continue stakeholders’ meetings and clearance operations to prevent law and order breakdowns. He also urged residents to remain calm and dismiss exaggerated social media reports, as the police and other security agencies are aware of neighboring states’ security trends.
The Kano State Police Command’s proactive approach to maintaining security and building trust with the community is evident in this initiative. By fostering collaboration and encouraging information sharing, the Command aims to ensure a safe and secure environment for all residents.
