FIC Report (Anambra State) – The Minister of Health, Professor Ali Pate has in company of Governor Soludo, his deputy Dr Onyeka Ibezim, the House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze and others Inaugurated Okpoko General Hospital.
Professor Ali Pate while speaking commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his exceptional leadership in the State particularly in the health sector.
He noted that the Governor’s efforts have transformed the healthcare landscape in Anambra with the Okpoko General Hospital being a shining example.
He also said, ” I will say, a new heaven is here. I am amazed to see the transformation of this area. I will like to congratulate you, your Excellency for your leadership.
The Governor of Anambra State in his address noted, “We have come for a working visit. We have come to commission some of the finished works in Okpoko. We have constructed a fifteen kilometers road, erected street lights and left a water scheme in this town. We are very intentional in prioritizing healthcare. Human capital is also one of our priorities. We will build recreation centres and other facilities that will help awaken the good dreams of the children of Okpoko….”
The Anambra State Commissioner of Health, Dr Afam Obidike also told the story of the recreation of the onetime slum.
He said, “We are happy we did not build a mortuary but a hospital.”
He further said, “We spent huge amount of money here because the Governor was determined to have this hospital….”
The facility which is fondly called the ‘Solution General Hospital, Okpoko’ has different sections such as the dental, the children, women and men wards and the maternity.
Its inauguration marks the take off of a first-ever General Hospital built in Okpoko, a former dumpsite.
