
Honourable Minister of State, Ministry of Regional Development, Maigari, today paid a courtesy visit to the Borno State Governor. Umara Zulum in his Office.
The Minister briefed the Governor on the planned official Handing Over of some Completed Projects by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to the Borno state government, which will be done tomorrow, May 28,2025.
Addressing the Governor, the Minister of State noted that the Ministry of Regional Development (MRD) was established by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to coordinate and drive inclusive development across the six geopolitical zones, as part of his Renewed Hope Initiative, adding that he has been tasked to directly supervise the operations of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), the North West Development Commission (NWDC), and the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).
The establishment of NEDC he said was borne out of the need to rebuild and stabilize the region after years of insurgency and economic disruption, stressing that the completed projects by the NEDC is a testament to that vision and aligns with the broader North East Stabilization and Development Plan (NESDP).
Projects to hand over are as follows:
ICT centre at Agency for Mass Literacy, Male and female wards at federal Neuro Psychiatrists furnished and equipped with drugs at Central Medical Store.
Others are Renovated and equipped with modern facilities NEDC store, construction of new male and female wards at dental and eye hospital. constructed and equipped Konduga police station, DSS Clinic and High Court Complex.
Borno Star Governor, Umara Zulum acknowledged the huge interventions recorded by the NEDC, saying that steps would be taken to re-prioritize development projects to ensure that the Commission will not only achieve the mandate of rebuilding the region in record time, but make it even better than it was.
He cited: security, power, health and road infrastructure as critical areas.
The Chairman, House Committee on NEDC, RT. Hon. Usman Zannah, commended the synergy between the Commission and it’s Stakeholders which culminated in the milestone achieved so far. He particularly commended the Borno Stae Governor for his resilience even in the face of adversity occasioned by insecurity.
Also on the courtesy visit were, Chairman House Committee on NEDC, NEDC Chairman/Board Members and MD NEDC and other dignitaries.
