Ministry of Communications Inaugurates Boards of Parastatals

Honourable Minister of Communications Dr. Adebayo Shittu said that the ICT Sector contributes more than 10% of the GDP of Nigerian economy through economic diversification, social inclusion opportunities, job creation, youth empowerment, improved human capital and facilitation of economic competitiveness.
He stated this at the inauguration of Boards of Agencies, under the Ministry held on the 6th of March 2018.
Dr. Shittu added that investments in ICT infrastructure would always offer further economic growth and opportunity, hence, Federal Government has identified and would implement high impact infrastructure projects that would create businesses for local contractors, service suppliers, jobs for Nigerians every year, through infrastructure development.
Adding that Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST) is undergoing restructuring and modernization process which is aimed at thriving market-driven entrepreneurial conglomerate focusing on innovation, NIGCOMSAT is focusing on acquiring additional capacity to operate effectively as a Commercial Satellite Company and to adequately compliment regular ICT infrastructure in bridging connectivity gaps which is hard to reach remote areas of the country while National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is repositioned to meet the ICT skills and human capacity needs of the country.
Chief George Moghalu, Chairman Board of Nigeria Communication Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) on behalf of the inaugurated members accepted the appointment, and assured that they are fully conscious of their responsibilities and expressed their gratitude to the Hon. Minister.
Furthermore, he appealed that the Hon. Minister door be opened for guidance and promised that they would put in their best to justify the confidence reposed on them.
