Nasarawa State Government commences distribution of FG Palliatives

FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – Nasarawa State Government has commence the Distribution of Federal Government palliatives which was sent to state as part of effort to reduce the hardship been experienced by the citizens as a result of fuel subsidy removal.

The Governor who flagged off the Distribution of the palliatives in Karu Local Government Area recently, said, the palliatives by the Federal Government was aimed at cushioning the effects of the fuel subsidy removal on citizens, most especially the vulnerable one in the society.

The Governor explained that, each of the thirteen Local Government areas in the state will have one thousand beneficiaries and each of benefiting household will be giving a 50kg bag of Rice along with five thousand naira, adding that the palliatives has nothing to do with political parties, religion or tribal, but is for all Nigerians, while assuring that government will not relent in ensuring strict monitoring of the distribution process assuring that only the target beneficiaries are actually benefited from the gesture; he pointed out that the gesture would go a long way in reducing the hardship been faced by the citizens.

The governor also explained that, civil servants from both the state and local government levels are going to be given 10,000 naira for the next 6 months in addition to their salaries as part of the palliatives.

He also stated that pensioners at both the state and local government levels would be given 5,000 a month for the next 6 months.

The Governor stressed that all these measures would be accompanied with other palliatives that will keep unfolding in addition to the 10 buses that would be bought to reduce the cost of transportation for commuters within the state going forward.

Earlier, in her welcome address the Honourable Commissioner of Special Duties, Humanitarian Services and NGO’s. Margaret Elayo applauded the Federal Government for the Swift action and compassionate response in the provision of palliatives to Nasarawa State in this challenging time.

She disclosed further that what the Federal Government in collaboration with the state government is doing symbolizes solidarity and shared responsibility that reminds us all that we are stronger together. “This support from the Federal Government is a beacon of hope to our people, demonstrating that we are not alone in the face of the current trying moments”, Elayo noted.

She equally commended the Governor for bringing afloat transformative programmes and policies that are geared towards bringing the people of the state out of poverty. She also applauded the resilience of the people of Nasarawa and Nigerians from all walks of life by extension for demonstrating unity in diversity at critical moment like this. On his part, the Executive Chairman, Karu Local Government area reinstated the council’s commitment to make sure the food items and money gets to the intended beneficiaries across board.

Similarly, the Governor was in Keffi, Wamba and Akwanga Local Government for the continuation of the same exercise for the distribution of the palliatives in the areas.

The Governor urge the traditional ruler of the Local Government areas to supprintend over the distribution of the palliatives across their domain.

Still in keffi, Wamba and Akwanga LGA,s, The Honourable Commissioner of Special Duties, Humanitarian Services and NGO’s. Margaret Elayo appreciated the effort of the federal government in the provision of palliatives across the Country in order to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
