Nasarawa State Government to complete 33KVA power project

Nasarawa State Government has said that the December 2019 dateline set for the completion of the 33KA power project at Akurba in Lafia the State capital would be achieved.
 
Abdullahi Sule revealed this during the occasion of the public presentation and the book launched in honour of the former Governor and the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Sen. Umaru Tanko Almakura held in Lafia recently.
 
The Governor promised to ensure that all uncompleted projects initiated by the past administration are completed before embarking on the new ones.  He said that the power project when completed will be named after Senator Tanko Almakura.
 
The Senator representing Nasarawa South and the immediate past governor of the state Senator Tanko Almakura applauded the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University and the authors of the book, for highlighting some of the achievements of his administration while in office as the Governor of the State.
 
He pointed out that even though the book was motivated by modest contribution to the development of the University, the appreciation should also go to the people of Lafia Emirate for donating the land for the building of the University.
 
The Governor while commenting on the book presentation, noted that honouring people after leaving office is a rare thing in the country, and also commended the organizers of the event for recognizing the former governor for his leadership quality and the contribution he made in the development of the state.
 
On his part, the Dean, Faculty of Social Science, Federal University, Lafia Professor Isa Mohammed Kida, said that the event was a part effort by the University to publicly acknowledge the immense contributions of the former governor for his “Unflinching interest” in the takeoff and sustenance of the institution.
 
According to the Dean, the 510 pages book was titled “DELIVERING DEMOCRATIC PROMISES IN NIGERIA- PROSPECT AND CHALLENGINGS’’ highlighted the contributions of the former governor to the development of the university.
 
Dignitaries that attended the event include-Senator Godiya Akwashiki, Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology Mohammed Abdullahi, Former Deputy Governor Silas Agara and top government functionaries including the Emir of Lafia Rtd. Justice Sidi Bage amongst others.
