NATIONWIDE PROTEST: FG Urges Calm, Promises Better Living Standards

The Federal Government has urged Nigerians to shelve the planned nationwide protest, assuring that it is working tirelessly towards improving the living standards of Nigerians.

The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Barrister (Mrs) Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, made the appeal during a Women Rally in Abuja, organised by her Ministry in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders.

She emphasized that the government is aware of the people’s plight and is therefore taking concrete steps to address it.

The Ministry has already provided sustainable empowerment machines to 16 states, including the FCT, to equip women and create job opportunities. Plans are also underway to distribute these machines to other states, tailored to their specific needs, to ensure poverty alleviation and economic stability. Kennedy-Ohanenye said.

The Minister highlighted the resumption of the Cash Transfer Programme of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration and reforms aimed at reducing food prices, assuring that these efforts will soon yield positive results.

She appealed for patience and support, stating that protests can harm the economy and put lives at risk.

The government’s policies and programmes are designed to achieve economic stability, enhance security, and improve living standards., she added.

The Minister’s call for calm and support reflects the government’s commitment to addressing the people’s concerns and working towards a better future for all Nigerians.

Also speaking, the former Niger Delta agitator, Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, called on women as mothers of the nation to appeal to their children against embarking on the planned action.

He called for more support for the present administration to enable it achieve its mandate, which is geared towards the socio-economic development of the country.

The President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lucky Emonefe, also called on women to support the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration in its efforts at improving the living condition of Nigerians, assuring that students on their part, will lend support towards ensuring the administration’s success.
