NDE flags off the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme for Youthstraining

The National Directorate of Employment, NDE has flagged off the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS) in Abia State for the recruited 100 unemployed Youths from School Leavers to Graduates of Tertiary Institutions with passion for Agriculture as an Enterprise.

Recall that Sustainable Agriculture is an agricultural production and distribution system which helps to provide more profitable farm income, promote environmental stewardship and enhance quality of life for farm families and communities.

Flagging off the programme on behalf of the Director General of NDE, Mallam Fikpo Mohammed at the NDE office, the Abia State Coordinator, Arc. Lady Dr Chijioke Uzoatuegwu said that the Trainees will be rigorously trained in various aspects of modern agricultural production for a period of three months in both livestock and crops.

He stated further that the training period will be used for production exercise at the NDE adaptive experimental farm located at Umuezegu, Isiala Ngwa North LGA of Abia State.

Interacting with a cross section of Journalists shortly after the event, one of the participants, Rev. Angus Mbanugo appreciated the Federal Government’s efforts through the NDE in creating jobs for the unemployed through agriculture.

It was gathered that training allowances would be paid to the One hundred (100) Programme Participants during the three months period of the Training.
