On 10 December 2025, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, PhD, received Her Excellency, the Ambassador of Finland to Nigeria, Ambassador Ms Sanna Selin, at Tafawa Balewa House for a high-level bilateral engagement aimed at deepening cooperation between both countries.
During the meeting, discussions covered a wide range of strategic areas, including digital public infrastructure, cybersecurity, internal security technology, sustainable mining, healthcare development, renewable energy, agriculture, and multilateral collaboration. The Ambassador also briefed the Ministry on Finland’s intention to open a Trade Office in Lagos and highlighted her engagements across Nigeria.
The Permanent Secretary reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening ties with Finland, supporting ongoing initiatives, and enhancing collaboration across all mutually beneficial sectors.
The meeting ended on a warm and optimistic note, with both sides acknowledging that the relationship between Nigeria and Finland stands at a promising juncture, defined by shared aspirations, complementary strengths, and a mutual commitment to advancing peace, innovation, economic prosperity, and global cooperation.partnership, and global cooperation.
