The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, extends warm congratulations to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cameroon, His Excellency, Lejeune Mbella Mbella, on the joyous occasion of the Independence Anniversary of their country.

Nigeria and Cameroon share a long-standing relationship rooted in mutual respect, regional cooperation, and shared aspirations for peace and prosperity. As very friendly neighbours, our bilateral ties have been strengthened through collaborative efforts in addressing common challenges, including security, trade, and socio-economic development.

The Government of Nigeria commends Cameroon’s commitment and collaboration, especially in fostering stability in the region, particularly in the face of complex security threats such as the activities of Boko Haram and other armed groups. Nigeria remains steadfast in supporting Cameroon’s efforts to promote unity, peace, and sustainable development.

Therefore, as Cameroon celebrates this significant milestone, Nigeria reaffirms its dedication to deepening the existing bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two nations. We also look forward to continued collaboration within the frameworks of the African Union (AU) and other global multilateral platforms to advance the interests of our peoples and the broader continent.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes the Government and people of Cameroon a peaceful and prosperous Independence Anniversary and many more years of progress and harmony.

Signed:

Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa,
Spokesperson,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja.
