FIC Report (Kwara State) – The Nigeria First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commissioned the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Community ICT Centre, in Ilorin.
The First Lady, who said that she was delighted to be in Ilorin, noted that the commissioning was in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) under its Social Investment Programme.
“I am delighted to be in Ilorin, Kwara State today to officially commission the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Community ICT Centre, in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) under its Social Investment Programme.”
According to her, “the knowledge of ICT serves as a significant tool for empowering communities, especially women, enabling them to break traditional barriers and access new opportunities. By equipping themselves with ICT skills, women and girls can enhance their educational prospects, be self-reliant, participate in the global economy, and support their families.”
“Therefore, today’s commissioning presents us with another opportunity under the Mandate of the Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy to further expand digital access to our citizens, by providing communities with the resources they require to develop ICT skills. This is in line with the priority area of the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR to accelerate economic diversification through industrialisation and digitalisation.”
She then urged members of community to take full ownership of the centre, saying the success of the centre depends on their active participation and utilization of the resources available.
“In the spirit of today’s event, the Renewed Hope Initiative, under the RHI Economic Empowerment scope will be presenting a grant of Fifty Million Naira (N50,000,000) to the First Lady of Kwara State and RHI State Coordinator to support another set of 1,000 women petty traders with the sum of N50,000 each to recapitalize their existing businesses.”
The First Lady appreciated the Kwara State Gov, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON and his wife, Ambassador (Dr.) Olufolake AbdulRazaq for their warm reception and hospitality, especially for executing all the RHI programs in Kwara State.
The project was named as AMINA NDALOLO COMMUNITY ICT CENTRE, for the benefit of women and youth in Kwara State.
