The Minister of Innovation, Science and Innovation Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji has said that Nigeria will no longer treat Innovation as a huzzword, but as tools for survival and progress and we will no longer look away when substandard materials are used, when geotechnical surveys are skipped, or when professional standards are diluted, instead we will monitor inspect and act.

Nnaji made this statement at the signing of Memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Innovation Mentoring on Climate Resilient Infrastructure today in Abuja.

According to Uche the Partnership between the Ministry and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) The Council of Nigeria Mining Engineers and Geoscientist (COMEG), The Council of register Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) and Technical consultant Tectonics Engineering group is built on collaboration adding that we are institutionalizing a national framework and real time monitoring and smart materials to ensure that what is build, can stand the test of time for the benefit of the populace.

He further said that MoU will give life to the joint monitoring share datasets standardized testing and climate resilient construction models which will finally position the nation to compete favorably with its international counterparts in infrastructural development.

The Minister also said that the work directly support the Renew Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR particularly the pillars focus on Infrastructural Development, Economic competitive and National Cohesion, this MoU is part of the broader strategies to ensure that Nigeria build a physical transformational enabling prosperity, safety and resilience infrastructure for the betterment of Nigerians.

Earlie, responding on behalf of the partners Engr. Aisha Kawu Gombe said that the problem of Infrastructural development in the country is a critical one that needs urgent attention of which solution can only be found through Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in order to correct previous abnormities created in the Country.

She also said that the collaboration will bring about good laboratories that are well equipped which will enhance socio economic development.
