FIC Report (Edo State) –In a major development aimed at revitalizing grassroots political engagement nationwide, Nigeria witnessed the official launch of the Tinubu Torch Bearers (TTB) National Secretariat in Abuja. The event, which underscores the administration’s commitment to mobilizing support at the community level, was graced by the symbolic commissioning of the movement’s new operational hub designed to serve as a rallying point for supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, ably represented by the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, highlighted the significance of the Tinubu Torch Bearers as a strategic vehicle for promoting the achievements of President Tinubu’s Government and fostering grassroots support across Nigeria. She emphasized that the movement’s growth reflects a collective effort to deepen citizen engagement and reinforce the government’s developmental initiatives.
In her address, the Minister of Women Affairs urged members of the Tinubu Torch Bearers to intensify their grassroots mobilization and public enlightenment activities. She called on them to actively showcase the tangible benefits of President Tinubu’s policies and programs, emphasizing that women are central to the nation’s progress.

“As carriers of hope, it is our duty to ensure that the message of transformation reaches every community, ward, and local government area,” she stated. “Women remain the heartbeat of grassroots mobilization and are vital partners in Nigeria’s development journey.”
She also highlighted that establishing a dedicated National Secretariat would enhance coordination, communication, and engagement among the movement’s members, thereby increasing its effectiveness in supporting the Government’s Agenda.
The Commissioning ceremony, organized by the APC National Women Leader, Dr. Mary Alile-Idele, attracted an array of Stakeholders, including olitical Leaders, Women’s Groups, Youth Organizations, and supporters from all parts of the country. The event underscored the importance of grassroots involvement in Nigeria’s political landscape and the role support groups play in shaping the nation’s future.
The Tinubu Torch Bearers movement, founded under the leadership of the APC National Women Leader, has rapidly expanded its presence, establishing branches in all 774 local government areas and over 8,800 wards across Nigeria. It has become a prominent grassroots organization actively promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda through community-based campaigns and political support activities.

Dr. Mary Alile-Idele described the newly launched secretariat as a strategic operational center that will oversee and coordinate the movement’s nationwide activities. She revealed that the facility would house the “Women Situation Room,” an innovative monitoring initiative designed to track developments at Nigeria’s 176,846 polling units. This center aims to promote transparency, accountability, and active grassroots participation in electoral processes and governance.
The Event also featured remarks from Dr. Ngozi Olejeme, the National Coordinator of the Tinubu Torch Bearers, who expressed gratitude to Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her unwavering commitment to women empowerment and national development. A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the “Do Know & Benefit” Digital Wristband Initiative. This innovative technology allows citizens to scan the wristband with their mobile devices to instantly access information about government programs, opportunities, and social interventions. The initiative aims to bridge communication gaps, especially among grassroots communities such as market women, farmers, artisans, and youth, thereby enhancing transparency and direct access to government benefits.
The event concluded with a strong show of support from APC leaders, government officials, women’s organizations, and grassroots supporters. Their presence underscored the vital role of women and community-based groups in driving Nigeria’s political and socio-economic transformation.
