AE-Funai Unveils New Institute To Advance Technology, Innovation And Future Skills

FIC Report (Ebonyi State) – Vice Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, Professor Daniel Nwachukwu, has called for academic excellence and ethics across universities in the country.

He said no university rises on a foundation of misconduct, result manipulation or financial opacity, noting that excellence with ethics is empty.

At a two-day retreat in Abakaliki, the state capital for the staff of AE-FUNAI with the theme “The vision of the new AE-FUNAI,”  Nwachukwu urged the faculty deans departmental heads and directors of the university to facilitate excellence in the institution.

He urged the Deans, HODs and Directors to ensure that their conduct model the punctuality, diligence and integrity they demand from staff and students of the university and warned against plagiarism, ‘sorting,’ extortion and sexual harassment.

He implored each department in the university to identify at least one industry or community problem it would solve this year and one external partner it would engage.

Research must move from the periphery to the centre of our work. Every faculty and department must have a clear research agenda tied to national and global development goals.

We must be globally competitive in standards, not just in aspiration. That requires modern curricular, functional labs, digital libraries and staff who are exposed to global best practices,” he said.

Governor Francis Nwifuru, who was  represented by Secretary to the State Government, Professor Grace Umezurike urged lecturers to get the ethical aspects of their behaviour right for excellence.
