The National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer (NC/CEO), African Union Development Agency and New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD) Nigeria, Princess Gloria Akobundu fsi have told participants at the APRM Workshop on Harmonization, Finalization, Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for National Programme of Action (NPOA) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that the NPOA when fully drafted, Launched and implemented would improve the state of Governance in the Country.
Akobundu stated this while delivering her opening remark at the commencement of the five day Workshop on Harmonization, Finalization, Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for National Programme of Action (NPOA) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria held at Barcelona Hotel, Abuja.
The NC/CEO of AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria further added that apart from improving the state of governance in the country, the NPOA document would guide and mobilize the country’s effort in implementing the needed changes, as well as accelerate the economic development of the country.
Earlier, the APRM Nigeria Secretariat had sent out the Country Self-Assessment Report (CSAR) to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as to the organized Private Sector and CSOs to read, make their observation and input to the NPOA.
The AUDA-NEPAD Boss said the five day workshop will also afford participants which comprise; National Governing Council Members, APRM National and Continental Secretariat, State delegates, MDAs, CSOs, Private Sector, Technical Research Institutions, People leaving with disabilities and other relevant stakeholders amongst others, the opportunity to harmonize all observation and input submitted by various Organisation.
“So we are here to harmonize that your input, we are here to look at the document again, we are here to gather your contributions, we are here for you to interrogate that document again to say, this is what is good for us, this is how we should do it and this is how it should be. All these are for the good governance and moving our dear country forward” Akobundu said.
It is expected that at the end of the Technical Workshop, participants would tap into the gains of the programme, as well as effectively track, monitor, evaluate and report on the implementation of the NPOA for the compilation of the Country’s Progress Report (CPR).
Having successfully conducted the Country Self-Assessment Report, which produce the Country Review Report leading to the validation and approval of Nigeria’s Second Peer Review by the African Heads of State and Government Committee on the 4th February, 2022 during the 35th AU Summit, Nigeria have embarked on drafting her NPOA which the workshop seeks to harmonize, finalize and train Stakeholders on monitoring and evaluation framework for the implementation of the 2nd NPOA of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for ownership, effective and efficient delivery, and the ‘Nigeria we want’.
