FIC REPORT (ADAMAWA STATE) – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Adamawa State Command has arrested 3 suspects in connection with the alleged transportations of vandalized Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) pipelines.
This is contained in a statement by the public relation officer NSCDC Adamawa State command DSC Hamidu Nyako Buba.
The suspects were apprehended by the Commandants Special Squad following a credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected vandalized pipelines.
They were intercepted along Jereng, Mayo Belwa local government area of Adamawa State, while conveying 250 pieces of metal pipes each measuring approximately 8 to 10 feet in length.
The pipe were concealed in bags of cassava in an apparent attempt to disguise the nature of the consignment and invade security check. According to him, preliminary investigation indicates that the consignment was allegedly loaded at Nannai, Gossol Local government area of Taraba State and was being transported to Kano State.
The operation is part of the sustained efforts of the State Commandant, Nasiru Sale, to protect critical National Assets and Infrastructure and prevent economic sabotage through the illegal vandalized movement and disposal of government-owned facilities and materials.
The command remains committed to working closely with relevant stakeholders and sister security agencies to identify and dismantle networks involved in the vandalized, theft and illegal transportation of critical national assets.
He explained that the principal suspect identified as Adamu Lawan is currently at large while efforts are ongoing to apprehend him. He called on the public to provide credible information that may assist the corps in locating and arresting criminals.
According to him, the three arrested suspects are currently in custody and are undergoing further investigation, assuring that upon completion of the investigation, they will be charged to court in accordance with extent law.
He urged the members of the public to promptly reports suspicious movements or activities involving pipelines and other critical National Assets to the nearest security outfits.
