NUJ Salutes Abia Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti

As the new Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Chioma Otti settles down for the business of governance, the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has sent him warm felicitations, urging him to walk the talk.

Otti became the 5th democratically elected Governor of Abia State on May 29, 2023 following his successful Inauguration alongside his Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu.

Abia NUJ noted that the mammoth crowd of Abians that witnessed the colourful inauguration ceremony at the Umuahia Township Stadium “is a reflection of the love Abians have for him (Otti) and his new administration.As the new Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Chioma Otti settles down for the business of governance, the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has sent him warm felicitations, urging him to walk the talk.

Abia NUJ noted that the mammoth crowd of Abians that witnessed the colourful inauguration ceremony at the Umuahia Township Stadium “is a reflection of the love Abians have for him (Otti) and his new administration.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of Abia NUJ, Comrade Victor Ndukwe and Secretary, Comrade Adaeze Ralph Igbokwe Secretary. The Council noted that the expression of love by Abians “automatically translates to huge expectations of the people” on the new government.

“We are delighted by your promise that your government will not give excuses despite the daunting task ahead and urge you not to be deterred,” the NUJ said.

“We thank you for your reassuring inaugural speech which ostensibly reiterated your campaign promises and your unwavering determination to deliver on them in your avowed bid to rebuild Abia”.

“We specifically implore you to live out your campaign mantra of “Weep Not Abians, Help Has Come,” being quite mindful that the taste of the pudding is in the eating.

The Abia NUJ assured Otti of the support and collaboration of the Leadership and Members “at all times in this journey, especially in marketing God’s Own State to the world through accurate dissemination of on government activities, programmes, projects and policies.

The NUJ further assured the new Governor of genuine partnership and constructive engagement in driving his vision for a better Abia that works for all citizens and residents.

“As the watchdog of society, we shall continue to mirror your government to the people and relate the true state of affairs to you through a feedback mechanism to genuinely assist in the project rebuild Abia as was encapsulated in your Inaugural Speech”.

“We wish you God’s protection and (provision) of resources you will need to excel in your tasking tour of duty as the Chief Executive of Abia, God’s Own State,” the Abia NUJ said.
