Ogun to host 2019 Survey Coordination

The well revered Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun is expected to host the 2019 Survey Coordination with the theme, “Survey and Mapping for Sustainable Infrastructure Development and Good Governance.”

According to the Director of Survey Coordination, Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation (OSGOF), Surveyor Uzoma A. Godwin who is the Chairman of the Planning Committee, “Ogun has in records, the highest number of surveyors in the country, and the plan to hold the survey coordination from 2nd – 6th of December 2019 in Abeokuta would remain a blessing to the country”.

“Arrangements for the success of the 2019 survey coordination is in top gear. We have been interacting with relevant officials of the Ogun State Government and we hopefully expect the final nod of His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun for us to begin to move things over”, Godwin said.

Survey Coordination is in the concurrent list anticipating the coming together of all the Surveyor Generals in the 36 states to meet annually with reports of their activities for easy coordination according to its establishing act. Institutions in the country offering surveying courses are also expected to present reports as well.

Participants at the survey coordination would be brainstorming on various papers that would be presented by scholars and experts and one major idea being promoted by the OSGOF that all would be looking into is the development of the National Integrated Geo-spatial Information System (NIGIS) that would aid robust security system and the activities of all sectors of the economy.

Expected to be in attendance are the Honourable Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, the acting Surveyor General of the Federation, Surveyor Taiwo S. Adeniran and Surveyor General of the thirty (36) states of the federation including the Zonal Director and Chief Resident Surveyors of states in the south west among other critical stakeholders.

Surveyor Godwin acknowledged that the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is an expert in matters of surveying but that he is a very busy personality  because of the exigencies of his offices, but that efforts would also be made for his gracious presence in Abeokuta.
