FIC Report (Ondo State) – The Ondo State Government has directed all public and private primary and secondary schools to upload the records of every enrolled learner to the Federal Government’s Digital National Education Management Information System (DNEMIS) on or before July 14, 2026.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, said the exercise is mandatory and warned that public school heads who fail to comply will face disciplinary action. He added that private schools risk losing their operating licences and being removed from the state’s education database if they fail to meet the deadline.

Professor Ajibefun expressed concern that Ondo State has recorded less than 25 percent compliance, far below the 95 percent benchmark required to qualify for education intervention funds under the Federal Government and World Bank-supported HOPE-EDU Programme.

He explained that every successfully registered learner will be issued a Learner Identification Number (LIN), which will serve as the student’s permanent educational identity.

According to him, students without a LIN will not be eligible to register for external examinations in Nigeria.

The commissioner urged school proprietors, principals, head teachers and parents to ensure that all learners are registered before the July 14 deadline to safeguard students’ academic records and enable the state to access critical education intervention funds.
