… Abia Returning Officer, Prof. Nnenna Oti Exonerates Self

FIC Report (Abia State) – The Abia State Returning Officer, Prof. Nnenna Otti has exonerated herself from news making rounds that she is related to the Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Dr. Alex Otti, insisting that she is from Ebonyi State and married to an Afikpo man while her maiden name is Ibekwe.

The current Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri maintained that as a democrat she is more concerned with her integrity and upgrade of democracy which she insist remains the best form of government . she restated that she has spent the best part of her life to uphold the principles of democracy and integrity which she says she stands unapologetically on.

According to her “I stand squarely and unapologetically on this principles therefore, the People’s mandate and votes will stand. The pastor in me and the mother in me will not allow me to do things that will jeopardise the future of our dear children”.

She, however, maintained that the Obingwa case was already in public domain and she had no hands in any of the results in any way whatsoever rather than uphold results as seen from the back end server.

Prof. Nnenna Oti had this to say in her own words,
“I’m Professor Nnenna Oti from Afikpo, I am the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, The people’s mandate shall stand.”
In her words, “I have spent all my adult life in pursuit of the ideals of good governance. We shall stand by the these principles.
“The pastor in me (she is a Pastor with the RCCG) and the Mother in me will not permit me to do anything that will adversely affect the future of our children. I shall do right by God and by man!”
Then to the shock and surprise of everyone in the hall, she said that the INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, personally called and gave her directives on guidelines to follow in ensuring that Abia governorship election results were collated based on some criteria but that on her own she has decided that the will of Abia voters would not be subverted under her watch.
At that point, she asked the Administrative Secretary to read the message she said that came from the INEC headquarters Abuja.
This shows there are still women of integrity in Nigeria.
