Out-Going Perm. Sec. implores In-Coming Perm. Sec. to take Youth and Sports Ministry to Higher podium

Abbuja (Min. of Youth and Sports Devt.) – The Outgoing Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Olusade Adesola has enjoined the in-coming Permanent Secretary, Mr. Gabriel Tanimu Aduda to take the Ministry to a higher pedestal of achieving its vision and mandate for national cohesion and sustainable development.

Mr. Adesola gave the admonition to his colleague and successor during the hand-over ceremony which held today in the conference room of the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

Speaking extempore, the out-going Permanent Secretary expressed his most sincere gratitude to the Hon. Minister, Mr. Sunday Dare, adding, it has been very worthwhile working with him. He also commended the Directors and entire staff of the Ministry for modest achievements recorded in pursuit of crafting policies and programmes for national growth and development in youth and sports. While acknowledging that the journey has been so far good, he stated that work is still in progress to take the Ministry to its desired height.

Extolling the supportive and cooperative roles of the Directors to Mr. Aduda, Mr Adesola reeled the achievements to include successful hosting of the National Sports Festival in year 2018 in the F.C.T, Abuja despite identified challenges; participation of our athletes in the Commonwealth Games; Rabat Games 2019; successfully hosted the National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara State and on-going preparatory works for podium performances at the 2020 Tokyo Games. Furthermore, he explained that the National Youth Games is itself unique for nurturing budding starlets who are below 18 years in age, adding, 48 new athletes were identified and had been adopted by the Tulip International School.

In the youth sector, Mr. Adesola Olusade similarly gave a record of modest achievements which included but not limited to the impressive conclusion of the revision of the National Youth Policy – 2019 to 2023 plus the production of its pocket sized booklet; the recently concluded strategic plan validation meeting for the National Youth Policy – 2019-2023 in Lagos and the constitution of the National Youth Parliament.

Responding, Mr. Gabriel Aduda stated that he has had cordial relationship with the Permanent Secretary, before the recent redeployment that reconnected them in their career journey of Civil Service. In the course of bringing his passion for Youth related activities to the fore, Mr Gabriel Aduda averred that “he is not coming to the seat, to review the activities of his predecessor, but rather to grow what he has started.” Mr. Aduda seized the opportunity of the occasion to curry the support of the Directors and entire Management staff of the Ministry and also the Union; to remain steadfast in working as a family to achieve set goals and objectives for national growth and development.
