The Honorable Minister of Women affairs and Social Development, Hajia Aisha Abubakar has said that there is need for a concerted effort aimed at integrating persons living with Disabilities in our national plan and work places.
The Minister said this when she played host to the world Bank, Global Disability Adverser, Ms Charlotte Mcclain who paid a courtesy visit to her office in Abuja.
Hajiya Aisha Abubakar said that capacity building is key if persons living living with Disabilities are to be meaningfully and gainfully employed.
To achieve this, the Minister employed the World Bank to provide technical assistance to the Persons Living with Disabilities.
She called on the World Bank to partner with National institution such as the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi to manufacture work devices that are needed by Persons Living with Disabilities.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Ifeoma Anagbogu told the World Bank team that to cater for the Persons with Disabilities is one of the mandates of the Ministry
She therefore encourages the World Bank to partner with the Ministry in their efforts to ensure an all-round development for Person with Disabilitie.
The World Bank team noted that mobility is a huge challenge for Persons Living with Disability, and appealed to relevant authorities to make public buildings disable friendly.
Ealier, Ms Charlotte Mcclain who led other members of the Gobal Disability team said that the perpose of the visit is to explore avenues to partner with the ministry in order to render technical assistance to Persons Living with Disability.
