FIC Report (Benue State) – The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, Sir Tersoo Kula, mnipr, has confirmed that His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, Governor of Benue State, will officially receive the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, during his planned visit to Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

Sir Kula made this known on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in an official statement issued on behalf of the Governor.

According to the statement, the Governor, on behalf of the government and people of Benue State, warmly welcomes the visit of President Tinubu, describing it as a powerful gesture of empathy and solidarity. The visit comes on the heels of the recent terrorist attack on Yelewata community in Guma Local Government Area, where many innocent lives were tragically lost in a violent invasion by armed herdsmen.

Governor Alia noted that the President’s visit is a demonstration of his concern and willingness to take decisive steps in addressing the security challenges confronting Benue and other states in the region.

“The President’s coming at this critical time shows leadership. It depicts his concern and readiness to take a bold step in the face of worsening insecurity threatening the peace, dignity, and existence of our farming communities,” the Governor stated.

He assured that the state is fully prepared to receive Mr. President, adding that the visit is not just a national statement of compassion, but an opportunity to directly engage the Presidency on urgent interventions needed to halt further killings and displacement.

The Governor further emphasized, “If there is any state in Nigeria that urgently requires peace, it is Benue. As the ‘Food Basket of the Nation,’ our state deserves peace, protection, and justice.”

He expressed optimism that President Tinubu’s visit will rekindle federal commitment to restoring law and order across all affected communities in Benue.

Governor Alia called on all stakeholders, traditional leaders, political actors, and citizens to unite in warmly welcoming the President. He also urged residents to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and prayerful as they prepare to receive the nation’s number one citizen.

“Benue Shall Be Great Again,” the statement concluded.
