FIC Report (Benue State) – The Benue State House Assembly urged the Governor of Benue State Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, on Thursday 6th 2025 to set up a machinery for filling of the vacancy in the office of Tor Sankera Intermediate Area Traditional Council of Benue, Ter Katsina- Ala and Tor Jechira, as provided in the section 23(1) and (2) of the Benue State Council of Chiefs and Traditional Councils law, 2016.
Mover of the motion and member representing Logo State Constituency Hon. Samuel Jiji, informed the house that there has been vacancy in the office of Tor Sankera for a period of over one year, occasioned by the death of HRH Late. Chief. Abu King Shuluwa, who died on 16th January 2024 and was buried on 10th February, 2024.
Seconding the motion, Hon. Bemdoo Ipusu, Member representing Katsina-Ala West State Constituency and Majority Whip, emphasized the vital role traditional rulers play in their respective domains and urged the government to ensure that the throne of traditional rulers is not left vacant for an extended period, highlighting the importance of continuity and stability in the area.
