She also explained that a Service Charter is a public statement about the services an organization is providing; an undertaking or a covenant made to stakeholders by an Organization about the service standards they should expect to receive, such as Issuance of yellow card on demand.

“It is an MDA’s operational and performance enhancement tool that enshrines the trust between service providers and service takers, e.g. Grant of waiver for Human remains/statement of needs on request within one (hour) by the Ministry,” she added.

Akajemeli said that, there is need to give the Service Charter adequate publicity adding that it would communicate staff obligations as well as customers’ expectations.

She emphasized that its implementation will determine how well the Ministry is positioned to really improve on the services provided to stakeholders such as the public, community, NGOs.

The Coordinator enjoined the committee members to ensure monitoring and implementation of the Service Charter during their quarterly meetings such as presentation of charter performance report at the meeting.

She further said that “the SERVICOM office believes that if the service standards in the charter are implemented, monitored and performance is reported the Ministry would be repositioned to function optimally there by ensuring that all customers are served right”.

She equally advised that, the implementation should come as publicity materials of the charter amongst staff and different customer groups and also train and sensitize members of the SERVICOM unit, front-lines staff at all levels on the concept and on their roles and responsibilities in the implementation of the Charter.
