Servicom Lauds The Nigerian Inland Revenue Service Drive Towards Strengthening Service Delivery Initiatives In Nigeria

The SERVICOM Presidency Office has lauded the Management of the Nigerian Inland Revenue Services (NIRS), on her giant strides in ensuring improvements of service delivery initiatives in all sectors across the nation.

This commendation came on the heels of a familiarization visit by the team from the Intergovernmental Relations Department of the Service to the SERVICOM Office on Monday.

Speaking during the visit, the Acting National Coordinator, SERVICOM Presidency Office, Mr. Anthony Oshin, in his welcome remarks, said that, the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian Inland Revenue Service was a welcome development at this point in time towards strengthening improvements of service delivery initiatives across the various Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of Government.

In his address, he stated that, the Office SERVICOM is looking forward to moving the service delivery initiatives and improvements’ in all facets of service delivery windows in all MDAs across board.

According to him, SERVICOM mandate focuses on improving the quality of that contact by working with Ministries Departments and Agencies to achieve its goals and objectives as set up by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

SERVICOM he said, is about service, doing what we’re employed to do, and it is to measure excellence and standards which lies in MDAs delivering customer focused services to stakeholders’ service wide.

Oshin further emphasized on the need for NIRS to foster collaborations amongst Stakeholders to drive service delivery improvements for sustainable developments in MDAs”.

” Service is what the people are entitled to expect from us, “hence the need to sustain Service Delivery Initiatives that would make much impact in the Service and add value to the renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government of Nigeria,” he added.

As public servants he said” Service is what we offer ourselves for and service is what the people are entitled to expect from us “The Nigerian Inland Revenue Service he said, can further improve service delivery by carrying out awareness campaigns tailor – made for regions, demographic and specific citizen’s needs, ensuring that the right messages reach the right audiences.

Oshin encouraged the Service, to ensure all communication issued out are straightforward devoid of jargons or ambiguity, messages he said, should be culturally relevant and aligned with the understanding levels of different Stakeholders and Nigerians across board.

Furthermore, the Acting Coordinator, called for strengthening of partnerships with private sector organizations, especially in areas of technology, media and social services to expand the reach and impact of NIRS Initiatives in the country.

The Service, he said, should engage in conducting regular surveys evaluations and reviews to assess the effectiveness of NIRS programmes and feedbacks gathered from the public, stakeholders and programme beneficiaries.

In his opening remarks, the Director, Intergovernmental Relations Department from the Nigerian Inland Revenue Service, Umaru Idris Ahmed, represented by Mr. Okin Thomas, informed the SERVICOM Management that the aim of the team’s visit is to notify the Office of the creation of an inter- governmental Relations in the Service.

The Department he said, is saddled with the mandate of fostering strong ties and long term collaborations with esteemed Organizations such as SERVICOM. It is also responsible with some set objectives to cultivate mutually beneficial partnerships that would enhance transparency, accountability and effective governance.

He posited that the Service is committed to improving tax compliance and supporting economic growth through such partnerships, while leveraging on combined expertise to create synergies that is mutually beneficial to both Organizations’ as well as contribute to Nigeria’s overall economic development.

The key areas to collaborate with you he said, are targeted towards engagements in developing communication channels to share platforms for information exchange and feedback. Notably also,” we are committed to collaborate with you on service delivery improvement, Monitoring and evaluation, Capacity building training, Public Awareness and sensitization, Complaints and Grievance Redress as well as Policy and Strategy Alignment,” he added.
