The Surveyor General of the Federation (SGoF), Surv. Taiwo S. Adeniran has appealed to the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government to give adequate support to surveyors posted to them as Heads of Surveying and Mapping.
Surv. Taiwo made the appeal while reiterating the crucial functions of surveyors toward the advancement of all sectors of the Nigerian economy during the first bi-annual coordination meeting of the SGoF and Heads of Surveying and Mapping of various MDAs in Abuja.
He explained that the presence of OSGoF through its Heads of Surveying and Mapping at MDAs was consequential because of the geospatial needs of MDAs to achieve proper physical development among others.
The meeting according to him was to gauge the geospatial gaps in MDAs, the challenges of the Heads of the Surveying and Mapping with a view to proffering solutions hence the commitment of the incumbent leadership to make OSGoF a solution proffer.
Earlier, the Director Survey Coordination, Surv. Uzoma Godwin Anyadiegwu who directly superintends the surveyors posted to MDAs commended the SGoF for the meeting noting that it was novel. He called on the various heads to use the opportunity to adequately brief the SGoF in view of their peculiar challenges.
Also present at the meeting were the Director Special Duties Surveys, Surv. Ahmad Ajingi Muhammad; Director of Photogrammetry and Remote-Sensing, Surv. Okafor Sylvester Obiagulu; Head of the Department of Infrastructures Surveys, Surv. Ekagbo Sally O. Omoha; Head, Department of Cartography and GIS, Surv. Nwakama Emmanuel; and the Head of Intelligience Survey, Surv. Munonyedi J. Ofili as well as the Deputy Director of Surveyor Coordination, Surv. Ayinde Semiu Akanni.
Heads of Surveying and Mapping of MDAs that were present include those of the Ministry of Defence, Niger Delta, Power and Mines, Agriculture, Environment, Water Resources, and Transportation.
