FIC Report (Anambra State) – Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo has approved the proposal of the organized labour to ensure that the minimum take-home for workers (after all deductions, including tax and union dues) is at least N70,000 per month.

The Governor announced this at the final meeting held with the committee on the implementation of the minimum wage – including 56 leaders of organized labour, in the state.

According to the Governor, the gross salary could range from N78,000 to N84,000 and an additional monthly non-taxable cash award of N10,000 will be paid to the pensioners alongside their monthly pension.

While assuring the Organized Labour that his government is committed for a better and secured Anambra, Prof Soludo announced that the state in days to come shall take delivery of hundreds of security vehicles for the vigilante groups and other security agencies even as other security measures are being negotiated.

He urged workers to think positively about the Contributory Pension scheme to save themselves of Pension agonies, adding that the earlier the state workers return to the Contributory Pension scheme, the better for them.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Anambra Chapter, Comrade Humphrey Nwafor revealed that Governor Soludo made the negotiations easier by the speedy approvals and thanked him for being worker friendly, even as he requested him to always do more for Anambra workers as a father.

The NLC Chairman further announced that the Governor has donated a land for the construction of the NLC state Secretariat known as Workers House which was impossible since 1991 Anambra was created, and commended him for his kind gesture towards the plight of the workers and pensioners in the state, praying that God would always protect him.
