MATTERS OF URGENT PUBLIC IMPORTANCE 

1.Abubakar Fulata moved a motion on the urgent need to redeploy soldiers to states being ravaged by bandits, especially in northern Nigeria. The motion was voted on and adopted.

2.Agbedi Frederick moved a motion on the need to have the national identity numbers (NIN) to be displayed on the national identity cards, the motion was voted on and adopted.

3.Rimamnde Shawulu moved a motion on the need to implement laid out plans to forestall the predicted food shortages in Nigeria The motion was voted on and adopted.

MATTERS OF PERSONAL EXPLANATION 

1.Rep. Muhammad Wudil as the chairman, House committee on Employment, Labor and Productivity rose under the platform of personal explanation to brief the House on his dialogue with members of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) who were protesting the lingering ASSU strike. He received the written demands of the NLC and assured them that the House will continue to do all within its power to ensure the agreements between the federal government and ASSU is adhered to in the shortest possible time. He also reminded the labor union that many Honorable Members have their children in public institutions of learning, so they also feel the pain of the lingering strike. The protesting labor union further commented the House of Representatives for always being on the side of Nigerians.

The Deputy Speaker, Rep. Ahmed Idris also reiterated the resolve of the House to ensure the lingering face-off between the federal government and organized labor is resolved within the shortest possible time.

2.Rep. Victor Mela also rose on the platform of personal explanation to tell the House that his community in Gombe state has been under suspense as a result of the fallout of the apprehension of bandits who stole over 500 cows from different states and were later apprehended in Gombe state on the 23rd of July, 2022 by a collaboration between police officers and local hunters. The cows he stated were kept in the Gombe state stadium, but there is unease as it is rumored that other bandits may come on a retaliatory mission due to the apprehension of their cohorts in Gombe state. Rep. Mela called on the commissioner of police to hastily release the stolen cows to the true owners so that the focus on Gombe state can ease up. He also called for vigilance on the part of the security personnel to ensure the safety of those in the community.
