Sylva Congratulates PTI for Outstanding Accomplishments

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Slyva has congratulated the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State, for her outstanding achievements and accomplishments.

Sylva’s congratulatory message was contained in his address to the auspicious occasion of the Institute’s fifty (50) years anniversary celebration.

In his remarks at the event which held in Abuja on Thursday, 13th October, 2022, the Minister who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, stated that PTI has distinguished itself as a reliable and indispensable training institution that has made immense contributions to the Oil and Gas Industry, not only in Nigeria but in the whole of West African Sub-region.

Slyva noted that students of the Institute have been successful in their studies, successful in gainful employments, successful in entrepreneurship and in creating opportunities for others to be gainfully employed.

He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the founding architects of the Institution for their wisdom and vision.

Chairman of the occasion, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha, in his speech pointed out that the event was a watershed in the history of the Institution, as it has afforded her the opportunity to take holistic stock of her numerous achievements in the past fifty years.

The event, Mustapha further pointed out, would serve as a veritable avenue for the Institution to seek for practical and innovative ways to improve the standard of her curriculum to meet with future National, Sub-regional and Global Energy requirements.

Earlier in his opening brief, the Principal and Chief Executive of PTI, Dr. Henry A. Adimula went down the memory lane to inform the audience that PTI was founded in 1972 by General Yakubu Gowon’s administration to provide competent Technological Manpower through quality training, research and consultancy for the Petroleum and Allied Industries.

Petroleum Training Institute, he said, had since inception trained 50,000 alumni. The institution he added was focusing on research for alternative and renewable energy sources and Off Grid Solar Contraptions in anticipation of the global energy transition with African reality.

The Golden Jubilee celebration was attended by the Directors in the Ministry and other major Key Players in the Oil and Gas Sector.

High points of the ceremony were the conferment of Leadership and Industry Awards to various recipients and the cutting of fifty (50) Years Anniversary Cake.
