The Acting Head Of Service Embarks On Familiarization Tour Of Ministries, Departments And Agencies

Abia State Government says its zero tolerance for corruption and godfatherism in the public Service is not negotiable.

Addressing Staff during her official maiden visit to some Government Establishments, the Acting Head of Service, Lady Joy Maduka stated categorically that the era of sacred cow in the Service is gone, as Government would not hesitate to deal with any Civil/ Public Servant who violates the Public Service Rules and Regulations.

Lady Maduka re-affirmed the willingness of the Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti to address the plight of the workers and charged them to brace up to the challenges before them.

She, however, reminded Workers that the essence of Government’s directives that the Most Senior Director in the MDAs be handed over to after suspension of some Permanent Secretaries must be strictly followed.

Consequently, the Acting Head of Service frowned with dismay that certain MDAs have shown flagrant disobedience to the directive of the Governor of the State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti and failed to hand over to the most Senior Director in some Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

Lady Maduka warned that they should without delay comply with His-Excellency’s directive and take over as well as report to the Ag. Head of Service within 24hrs or face severe sanctions.

Responding the Director of Tax, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Chidozie Umeh and Director of Epidemiology, Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Onu Nwokedi thanked God, for the emergence of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti as the Governor of the State.

Mr. Umeh and Dr. Nwokedi, who appreciated Governor Otti, for the appointment of Lady Joy Maduka as Acting Head of Service maintained that the appointments of Women in positions of authority in the State were manifestations of Governor Otti’s readiness to fulfill the 35% (thirty five percent) National Policy quota affirmative action on Women.

They requested the Government to ensure regular payment of salaries as well introduce more incentives, allowances and projects geared at improving the well-being of the workforce and assured their total support and loyalty to the present administration.
