
The Director-General, Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun stated that the core objectives of BPP as fairness, accountability, transparency, value for money, and efficiency.
He said this during his presentation at the 2nd Capacity building Workshop 2025 organised by Association of Public Procurement Practitioners of Nigeria (APPON) Lagos State Chapter to equip participants with the fundamental principles of public procurement especially on the challenges and way of exploring solutions.
He further stated the essence of procurement in any organisation is the significance of procurement, the role of procurement in nation building, and the consequences of the weak procurement system.
Adding that the fundamental principles of procurement is centered on good governance and transparency in the acquisition of goods works and services.
Also, there are stages of qualification in the procurement cycle such as:
• Pre-bid stage;
• bidding stage; and
• post bid stage.
The Director-General was eventually given an award by APPON Lagos State Chapter for his contribution towards procurement processes in Nigeria before and after his appointment as the DG BPP.
