UBTH Engages Lawmaker Hon. Billy Osawaru in Strategic Visit to Boost Healthcare Development

FIC REPORT (EDO STATE) – The Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, accompanied by the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Emmanuel Osaigbovo, and the hospital’s management team, warmly received Hon. Billy Osawaru, the Federal Lawmaker representing Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde Constituency, during a visit to UBTH on Friday, August 28th, 2026.

The visit was marked by a comprehensive tour of key facilities within the hospital, providing the lawmaker with an up-close view of UBTH’s operational infrastructure and ongoing development projects. During the tour, hospital management actively briefed Hon. Osawaru on the institution’s recent achievements, ongoing transformation initiatives, and critical areas where legislative support could significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver quality healthcare services.

This interactive engagement created a vital platform for strategic dialogue between hospital leaders and the lawmaker. It aimed to explore avenues for legislative interventions that could facilitate the acquisition of modern medical equipment, upgrade existing infrastructure, and expand healthcare services to better serve patients, staff, and students.

The visit underscores UBTH’s commitment to fostering collaborative relationships with policymakers to secure necessary support for its development goals. With the hospital’s strategic position in Nigeria’s healthcare system, such engagements are seen as crucial to ensuring sustained growth, improved medical outcomes, and the overall advancement of healthcare delivery in Edo State and beyond.

This initiative reflects UBTH’s proactive approach to strengthening partnerships that will drive its mission to provide accessible, high-quality medical care for all who seek its services.
